Drunken Prayer: News

Audra Departs Drunken Prayer - January 13, 2010

Hello Congregation,

As of January 1, 2010, our beloved keyboardist Miss Audra has decided to focus more of her energies to her wonderful little women's boutique, TWILL (located at SE 22nd Ave and Division in Portland, OR). If you get a chance drop my and tell her hello.

Hopefully she will join us when she can, but for now I will be operating DP mainly a solo adventure, often with a larger group.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Interview with The Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) - September 8, 2009

Read the full story here by Alli Marshall.

"The couple is haunted by gray scale and shadows of a bygone era. Fleming is a pale beauty; Geer broods behind a hank of hair. One image titled "1974"  places the pair in a tapestry-bedecked living room their clothes enviably retro, their coifs perfectly shaggy."

We've Begun Recording - June 18, 2009

I started tracking for our next album at The Deer Lodge (link below) last weekend.
I was able to lay down scratch tracks for 11 songs.
So far:
Fell Into the Sun (just wrote this, proudly references Freddy Fender's Wasted Days and Wasted Nights as well as my own Pearls and Swine)
Take a Walk (a faster version than the one posted here, '60s pop)
Never Tends to Forget (I have 2 great versions of this and can't decide between the slow waltz and the Crazy Horse)
Brazil (finally a studio version of the great live take posted here, with Sam Henry on drums)
Always Sad (been knocking this one around for a year or so- still not sure about the bridge)
Love Looks Like a Master (I have a really tight recording of this that I did at Collapsible Studios in Asheville with The Unholy Trio; can't find it)
597 Guerrero Street (again, there's a very pretty version of this from that same session...somewhere)
Machines (an oldie- I've written dozens of different versions of this, but Jose has a sweet Roy Orbison flavored beat he came up with that I think we'll be going with)
Poison the Well (a re-write of The Unicorn Song, unlikely to make final cut)
The Judas Table (this is also brand new, loosely based on the Bush/Cheney debacle- timely!)

So it's begun. There are a few more that I want to play live with Jose. Hopefully I'll have an update soon.
Stay tuned!
